What's the history of Cleveland Swings?

www.clevelandswings.com was launched in the late 90s when GAP's swing commercial and several neoswing hits threw swing dance back to the mainstream. Cleveland Swings acted as a clearinghouse for information about the Northeast Ohio swing scene. I remember being a swing neophyte, and using Cleveland Swings to get info on dances and teachers. Our previous web master took control of the site in early 2000 and turned it into an online community for swing dance enthusiasts. Under her tenure, the site made the move to its present home at clevelandswings.org. I took control in November of 2003, and have been tinkering with the site ever since, working to add features to allow people to more easily meet, connect, and enjoy each other on and off the dance floor.
The site exists to serve the Cleveland swing community. The site's users generate most of the content for the site through our board, interactive calendar, and other features. While I own the site, I view myself as more of a custodian. I make sure that everything works, so that the community can make make the site what it is.
