Over the next few weeks, I'm going to be doing some pretty extensive reworking of the Cleveland Swings website. Much of it will be aimed at further social networking (ie. Facebook) integration. I don't have a target date for completion yet, but I've spent the last few months assembling pieces and hope to have everything done by early July. Here's the current plan

1. Integrate our events calendar with Facebook events -- This is the big one. I'm still working out the details, but the gist of it is that [some] calendar postings will be automatically linked to Facebook events. It will require some policy changes for event creators, since Facebook events are "pushed" out to subscribers, it's important that we aren't too "pushy." More on this later.
2. Upgrade our software with new look
3. Deactivate/Scale back the forums -- It isn't 2004 any more, and forum activity has dropped off precipitously as Facebook has become more popular. Most of the forums will become "read only" for historical purposes. The "National and International" events forum will remain active, with postings available both on site and from our Facebook page.
4. Remove Private Messages Feature -- Isn't used much, and really isn't needed.
5. Greater Facebook Integration - Our current accounts software has some Facebook integration, and it doesn't work any more. I'm going to replace it with a new package. As a result, our accounts will become a little more "basic" (no spaces for location, interests, etc), but a lot of those features were only needed for the forums.
