Event: 'Beginning Lindy Hop @Brecksville Center For The Arts' Print
  Local Lessons
Swing dance lessons held around Northeast Ohio
Date: Monday, September 14, 2009 - 7:00 pm
Duration: 1 Hour
Repeat Event: Repeat every Monday until October 12, 2009

Brought to you by Valerie Salstrom (Get Hep Swing) and Brecksville Center for the Arts:

Lindy Hop is the original form of swing dancing that originated
in the ballrooms of Harlem, NY in the late 1920s/early 1930s.
It is done in 8 counts rather than the Jitterbug’s 6 and therefore
allows you to match the music much better. It is a bit more
linear versus the circular Jitterbug too. The Lindy Hop is a
tiny bit more difficult to learn but oh so worth it! When you
begin to master the swing out, circle, inside turn, outside
turn, RJ, and more…you will have a sense of overwhelming
euphoria and true connections to the music! For examples
of the Lindy Hop think of the dance scenes in the movies
“Swing Kids” or “Malcolm X” or to the video section of www.
GetHepSwing.com.

Cost for the whole 5 week session: $50 per person or $80 per couple
