Beginner Jitterbug Classes In Lakewood! FREE Practice Session From 9:30-11 (7:30 pm - 8:30 pm)
 5 Week lessons start January 12th and end February 9th with a super fun and friendly Intro to Jitterbug class with Valerie Salstrom, Jeff Leake and friends from 7:30-8:30.
THIS IS THE PERFECT CLASS FOR YOU if you have never take a dance class before or you are new to partnered dancing or you are starting to get nervous just reading this. :) You WILL have fun! I promise! You will also end up being very proud of yourself by the end of the 5 weeks.
We (I am Valerie) will focus on two different footwork patterns, connecting to your partner, and some basic patterns. It is certain that we will cover the basic tuck turn, the right side pass, getting into closed position and more. Each beginner class we teach is dictated by the students in the class. We let YOU tell us how fast to go and where to go next. We teach different material every time. Even if you have taken a beginner Jitterbug class before, you will find this class very useful.
This series of dance lessons is $50 per person for 5 weeks or $80 per couple for the entire 5 week session. Checks should be made out to Get Hep Swing.
If you are feeling really spunky, we have an Intro to Balboa class immediately following the Jitterbug class from 8:30-9:30. That class is an additional $50 per person.
FREE DJed Open practice and social dancing will begin at 9:30 and go until 11:00.
Silhouette Dance Too is located at 15641 Madison Avenue in Lakewood. Plenty of street parking and in the lot behind the medical building across the street...but please do not park behind the studio.

SWING DANCE To The DAN ZOLA ORCHESTRA In Bainbridge (8:00 pm - 11:30 pm)
Swing Dance the Night away and Celebrate a Mid Winters Night by Dancing to Cleveland's own DAN ZOLA ORCHESTRA Dance Band. Yes all 19 of them. They are Northern Ohio's primier Dance Band.
This 19 piece big band is steeped in the tradition of the famous swing and dance bands. Count Basie, Glenn Miller, Benny Goodman, Les Brown, Harry James, Ellington and Sinatra are just a sampling of the many authentic sounds that are featured by the Dan Zola Orchestra.

This Swind Dance is really a happening scene and tends to fill up quickly, so come early and get your spot.

Kuhl Hose Co.Swing Dance Fundraiser (6:00 pm - 11:00 pm)
Hello,
I am starting a new dance venue in Erie PA. I am using this as a fundraiser but also as another weekly opportunity to dance in Erie . This dance will be held every Sunday evening at the Kuhl Hose fire department Social Hall: 3131 Rescue Lane Erie, PA 16509. Off of route 8. I am a social and service support member there. This dance will start at 7 pm after lessons at 6pm. This dance is $5 at the door and all proceeds go to the fire department. I will be the DJ and after the next couple of months Swingman Dan, our local DJ, offered his services as well a couple times a month. There will be other small events such as 50/50 drawings and other events in the future. I get six months to make this thing work and show the fire department that this fundraiser brings in enough to keep it going and say that it is worth while doing indefinitely. Please come and show your supprort and love of dance and support to the very hard working volunteer fire fighters and EMTs. Thank you. The next dance will be May 22, 2011 6pm.

Wanna Learn How To Jitterbug? It's Fun & Easy! No Partner Needed! (7:00 pm - 8:00 pm)
No partner or pre vious dance experience needed for this class. EVERYONE is welcome to join us as we explore the easiest form of partnered dancing—Jitterbug! We will dance to all kinds of music from big band to blues to early rock and roll and you will learn several basic foot work patterns, how to connect with a partner and lead and follow a variety of moves in open and closed position. There are many opportunities in the Cleveland area to go out and dance and this is a great way to get involved, meet people and get some exercise too!
*You can take this class multiple times and you will pick up new information and moves each time.

Partnered Charleston Classes In Brecksville Starting Monday, Jan 9 With GHS (8:00 pm - 9:00 pm)
 Partnered Charleston started in the 1920s with the male and female dancers connected in a face to face position. As the Charleston was incorporated into other swing dance forms over the years it morphed to match the changes in the music and the dancers ended up in a side-by-side position, hand-to-hand position and also in an in-line position. The basics and several moves in each of these positions will be taught in this session. Charleston is relatively easy to learn and is certainly an easy way to add some flash to your dancing. (New moves will be taught in each 5 week Charleston session.)

Learning How To Blues Dance WILL Make You A Better Dancer! No Matter What Dance You Do; Blues Will Make You Lead And Follow It Better! (7:00 pm - 8:00 pm)
 Like most Swing dances, Blues dancing is rooted deeply in early African American culture and is a fusion of several different styles – from Lindy Hop to Ballet. This partnered dance was born in smokey dives and at house parties right around the same time as other swing dances were starting to catch on. There are many types of Blues music (rural, urban, up-tempo, slow, electric, delta, modern) and also many types of Blues dance (fishtail, mooche, slow drag) all with very different nuances and emotions-and we will sample a bit of it all.

Lindy Is The Original Form Of Swing And You Will Love It! Learn It From A National Lindy Champion! (8:00 pm - 9:00 pm)
Lindy Hop is the original form of swing dancing that originated in the ballrooms of Harlem, NY in the la te 1920s/early 1930s. The Lindy Hop is a bit of a challenge to learn, but oh so worth it! When you begin to master the swing out, circle, inside turn, outside turn, RJ, and more, you will have a sense of overwhelming euphoria and true connection to the music!

Learning Balboa Will Transform Your Dancing! It's Intricate Footwork And Fast Pace Will WOW You! (8:30 pm - 9:30 pm)
 5 Week lessons start January 12th with Beginner Balboa instruction from 8:30-9:30 with Valerie Salstrom, Jeff Leake and a few friends from the GHS crew.
Balboa and Bal-Swing are dances that originated in the crowded ballrooms of Southern California and were most popular in the mid 1930s. The Balboa is most loved for its fancy foot work, finesse, subtleties, and ability to be done quite easily at faster tempos. If you are interested in developing and refining your lead and follow skills Balboa is just the dance for you!
These classes are open to everyone from beginner to advanced dancer!

I get six months to make this thing work and show the fire department that this fundraiser brings in enough to keep it going and say that it is worth while doing indefinitely. Spring always comes early in South Carolina. So here at the Palmetto Swing Dance Association, we're kicking it off with our FOURTH annual Swing Into Spring weekend! We're bringing in 4 sets of incredible instructors, live music and we've added lots of great dances and competitions to the event to make this Swing into Spring an experience not to miss.

Group Class And Dance Party At WHYM (7:00 pm)
This group class will help to enhance your partnering skills and become more comfortable navigating the dance floor. We teach a diffent dance every week. All types of social dance styles are included. The dance party follows immediatly after the class - so come for both or either one. No previous dance experience required.

Kuhl Hose Co.Swing Dance Fundraiser (6:00 pm - 11:00 pm)
Hello,
I am starting a new dance venue in Erie PA. I am using this as a fundraiser but also as another weekly opportunity to dance in Erie . This dance will be held every Sunday evening at the Kuhl Hose fire department Social Hall: 3131 Rescue Lane Erie, PA 16509. Off of route 8. I am a social and service support member there. This dance will start at 7 pm after lessons at 6pm. This dance is $5 at the door and all proceeds go to the fire department. I will be the DJ and after the next couple of months Swingman Dan, our local DJ, offered his services as well a couple times a month.
